“ We hope that justice will be served sooner or later.”

Mesud Gülbahar, Chairman of Hasene Organization, one of the organizers of the International Uyghur Forum, shared his thoughts on the forum, which will take place on November 9-10:

“We hope that the genocide committed by the People’s Republic of China against Uyghurs, Kazakhs and other ethnic minorities will end and that crimes against humanity will be sanctioned in the international arena.
The decisions of the International Court of Justice should be more effective and powerful regarding sanctions. We hope that justice will be served sooner or later. However, justice that comes late is late and its application is not a consolation for the oppressed and victims, but a trauma. Urgent decisions need to be taken to hold those who commit genocide crimes accountable. All states should show the same sensitivity to violations of international law and regulate their laws accordingly. All countries should react in the same way to lawlessness. Economic interests and self-interest should no longer be the primary strategy of states and sanctions should be imposed to contribute to world peace. The duty of states is to take an active role against genocide by activating diplomatic channels. International courts must ensure that the guilty are tried in a real sense. These are elements that follow and complement each other.
We expect good results from the International Uyghur Forum that we will organize with these thoughts. We would like to thank everyone who will contribute to this important program, the politicians and academics from different walks of life.”
